NEV MEKAN KANDILLI
Located in Kandilli, the pearl of the Bosphorus, Nev Mekan Kandilli stands out as one of Istanbul's rare structures with its historical fabric, elegant architecture, and prime location. This valuable building, which had deteriorated over time, has been revitalized while preserving its original character and adapted to contemporary needs.
As Biconsilio Furniture Design and Restoration, we undertook a comprehensive restoration process for this special project, honoring the building's historical identity. While the structural elements and exterior aesthetics of the building were preserved, the aim was also to meticulously uncover the original details in the interior.
Within this scope, wooden doors and windows were meticulously restored as part of the project. By preserving the original wooden materials and replacing them when necessary, the doors and windows were restructured both aesthetically and functionally. These renovation works preserve the historical texture of the building while also meeting modern safety and insulation standards.
The project adopted not only repairs but also sustainable solutions to ensure continuity. In addition to the wooden details, the furniture used in the interior was specially designed and placed to be in harmony with the general atmosphere of the building. At every step, the traces of the past were preserved, and the building was given the identity of a contemporary living space.
